Kieran Madden

Kmadden2004's Gallery

I've been a fan of his work since I was searching through some web cartoons last year. His cartoon Beyond Reason was drawn very well and was a great laugh.

Due to his upcoming birthday Mr. Madden decided to take on some free commissioned work for his watchers.

Now I've never received or asked for anything commissioned before, but because Kieran's work is exceptional, I had no doubts that my request would prove to be awesome. I asked for my fav cartoon character Wile E. Coyote on a failed ACME device, and it turned out great!

Check out his works, he's an exceptional cartoonist!

Introduction
Hey everyone, it's been a long time since I've updated my journal. I'm not much on blogging, but due to the amount of stress I've been having, I feel as though I need to get it off my chest and rant for a bit.
So how about a quick update? You're probably wondering where I'm at in life since my last, drunken birthday post.

Things have been going great but there's been a lot (and I mean A LOT!) of stress has been eating at me lately. I've got so much on my plate that it's hard to keep everything in tact. I might have to move onto getting a day planner or something.

Artwork
Retrogade.com
I'm currently in talks with Quikfox of getting Retrogade.com back up and on the web after a good four(?) year hiatus. I can't remember when it went down, all I know is that since it's gone down, one of my goals in life was to see it come back. (Sad? Probably. Awesome? I hope.)

This planning is still in early stages, I just heard back from him today actually about a few things. If all goes to plan and Quik is onboard, we should hopefully see a start of production within the next month. It'll be a big project and since I've got other things on the go (you'll know what if you keep reading) true production won't start until after Christmas. I'll be sure to keep you updated!

TheGamerAccess.com
Here's a small community that is devoted to gaming. I find mostly Playstation 3 fans, but all around none-the-less. I stumbled upon it a week ago and have been hooked.

I sent out a personal message to the Owner, Editor and Web Designer Nick McCandless about redoing/mock-up of his current website and hopefully getting some face time with my design work. I'm hoping to have that finished up by early next week and we'll see where it goes from there. Again, I'll keep update on here.

Life
Stress. The silent killer. I'm in the process of moving into an a new apartment building with a good friend of mine; Sean Hatton. (A person you've seen if you checked out my photography. If you haven't, do it now. I can wait....)

Welcome back. So I'm moving in with him and a friend I met last year who's from New Hampshire. Problem is, from where I'm living now to where I'm going to be moving September 1st is almost another $300.00/month more on rent. Why am I moving you ask? I'm being forced out of my old place because she's putting the house on the market, everyone has to move out. It was a great set-up too.

I don't make much money anyway, so I've been living on a Student Loan...stupidly I decided to buy a car that I knew I couldn't afford, but I'm easily manipulated. It was $500.00 and ran great. I couldn't say no. Needless to say, that car is still running. It's most certainly going to croak at anytime I'm pretty sure, but I just want it to stay alive until moving day. The inspection runs up at the end of this month, since I don't have the money to fix it for another two years, I'm going to have to sell it for something super cheap such as $200.00 or less just to get it out of my way. Unfortunately I'll still have to pay for the insurance pretty sure (never did call...I should do that now actually...I will after this..) assuming I still have to pay for the insurance, that'll be a good $90.00 out of my pocket each month.

Now I work one or two shifts a week for $9.85/hour, do the math. Now you're probably saying "Dan, get more hours!"
Well buddy, I would try, but it's stiff competition right now since all the older guys want all the hours (Ps. This is at a Grocery Store) Although I foresee once school starts they'll be back down to 15 hours a week no doubt, so that'll be my time to swing in and take the hours. But as you would have it, I'll be attending two schools come September.

That's right... Two different schools. My main one which is Multimedia & Design course, which is an 8am-3pm Monday to Friday straight until November, and then Dalhousie University which will be cutting right into my other program. I'm taking this because I'm working into Architecture. The only way I can even remotely have a shot at it, is if I take a programming course that's only offered in the fall. See, from what I'm told (still trying to get a hold of the Dean to make sure this offer is still on the table) is that if I take this one course and make a B- or better, they'll change my previous course I failed to it's original mark which was I believe a C-. If I do this, my GPA will jump from 1.58 to a 2.05 or something like that. Just enough to get me off probation and work towards my goal. I could have taken it next year, but that would set me back something wicked. Right now if I pass this course, I'll be 2 years into Dalhousie Computer Science. If I take another year in my program right now and swing with a 2.5 GPA I can get into Architecture. Assuming I do that well, I could either finish up my degree in Computer Science or swing into Architecture.

Crazy Update!
Sorry folks, as I write this I just received an email that just made my stress go away. I JUST GOT A JOB WITH DALHOUSIE! This baby lets me help folks with audio, video and graphics for those students who need it. I'm incredibly excited now and lost my train of thought on this journal. I'm too lazy to reread what I wrote, but either way. Woo!

Conclusion
Uh, ok...so now that I know I have that job, I can start my plans to work two jobs as well as balance two schools. I needed and wanted this job greatly and I'm glad I got it. It's what I wanted to do and I'm hoping I can continue to work for them all through-out my Dalhousie career. I need to keep a clear head and mind and keep my goals within reach. Wish me luck everyone. I'll keep you updated on Retrogade.com as well as other artistic points.
